Qatar Chamber (QC) on Monday announced the launch of the ninth edition of the “Made in Qatar” exhibition which will be held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) from November 29 to December 2 this year.

To be organised by Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the exhibition is expected to see the participation of over 450 Qatari industrial companies across six sectors, encompassing furniture, food, petrochemicals, services, SMEs, and various industries expected to participate in the exhibition.

The announcement was made during a press conference held on Monday in the presence of Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Commerce Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Saleh bin Majed Al Khulaifi and Qatar Chamber Board Member and Exhibition’s Technical Committee Chairperson Abdulrahman Al Ansari.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Khalifa said that the state has achieved a myriad of significant developments and accomplishments in recent years by establishing a world-class infrastructure and enacting progressive legislation.

These efforts are aligned with the state’s endeavours to accomplish the goals set forth in the Qatar National Vision 2030, he said.

The chairman said that the exhibition would serve as a large platform that brings together Qatari industries and products, noting that it aims to bolster the Qatari industry and promote the local product, boost cooperation between the Qatari businessman and domestic companies, and facilitate discussions on potential partnerships and alliances that can contribute to the advancement of the local industry.

The chairman emphasised that this year’s edition of the expo follows the dazzling success Qatar achieved in hosting the World Cup, underscoring that the Qatari industry has achieved remarkable development and successive leaps and bounds in recent years. He also stressed the pivotal role of government-provided facilities and incentives in this progress.

He said, “These factors have bolstered the competitiveness and quality of the Qatari product, facilitating its penetration into global markets.”

He further highlighted that the event would see the participation of over 100 productive families to showcase their products in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Family.

Moreover, he said, the exhibition will also witness the active participation of many entrepreneurs who will exhibit their products through a dedicated section of the expo.

“The expo aims to provide visitors with the opportunity to gain insights into the products and services within the industrial sector. Participants will have the chance to engage with industry experts and investors, get acquainted with the successful companies operating in the state, and grasp their capacity for expanding activities, enhancing competitiveness, and highlighting innovation,” he said.

He also noted that the expo will feature a range of accompanying activities, including discussion sessions that will focus on the future of the Qatari industry. These sessions will involve the participation of numerous concerned bodies, aiming to boost greater cooperation and communication among manufacturers.

About the chamber’s role in supporting productive families and entrepreneurs, Sheikh Khalifa underlined the significance of cooperation between the chamber and the ministry in this regard.

He emphasised the chamber’s commitment to developing national production to meet any shortage in goods and products within the local market. He also underscored the chamber’s efforts to encourage investors to engage in new industries that contribute to the growth of the state’s GDP.

Addressing the press conference, Abdulrahman Al Ansari said that this year’s edition of the exhibition will be different.

He pointed out that the state has built an advanced infrastructure that will provide the private sector with opportunities for active contribution to the growth of domesticproduction.

He further affirmed the chamber’s commitment to addressing all obstacles facing the progress of the industrial sector in partnership with all relevant stakeholders within the state.

Responding to a question regarding the incentives provided by the state to enhance industrial production and boost exports, Saleh Al Khulaifi expressed gratitude to the chamber for organising the expo, stressing its pivotal role in promoting local products.

He reassured that the ministry is interested in supporting exporters and encouraging exports from Qatar. He further emphasised the collective efforts of both entities in fostering a conducive business environment and motivating companies to establish value-added projects that contribute to the national economy.

Khulaifi also underlined the significance of enhancing the competitiveness of the private sector, enabling it to manufacture products that hold economic advantages and can effectively compete both domestically and on the international stage. Al Ansari said that the expo will be held in an area of 30,000 sqm.

Replying to a question about the future destination of the expo, Sheikh Khalifa said it will take place outside the GCC region, noting that it could be in Iraq or in the country within the eastern African region.

The expo primarily aims at strengthening the national industry sector, supporting Qatar’s endeavors for industrial development, promoting Qatari products both domestically and internationally, encouraging the utilization of Qatari-made products, and inspiring investors to increase investment in industrial projects and enhancing the partnership between the public and private sectors.

The press conference was also attended by QC Board members Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli and Abdulrahman Abduljaleel Abdulghani in addition to Qatar Development Bank Executive Director of Advisory and Incubation Hamad Salem Mejegheer.
