AL WAKRA City in Qatar has joined the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Global Network of Learning Cities at the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), the UNESCO has announced.
The inclusion of Al Wakra City into the UNESCO network is a result of the efforts made by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by Al Wakra Municipality, to encourage sustainability and partnership with community institutions.
The UIL Director has welcomed Al Wakra City to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities saying that it gained the coveted membership after fulfilling all the requirements for it.
Al Wakra Municipality has adopted a strategy of spreading and integrating sustainability concepts to help Qatar achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030.
