Qatar has called on world countries to implement the United Nations Convention Against Corruption by supporting efforts to related to protection, regulation, accountability, and transparency.

This came in the statement of President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority HE Hamad bin Nasser bin Rashid Al Misnad, who chaired Qatar's delegation to the 9th Conference of the States Parties in the UN Convention against Corruption, currently taking place in Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh from December 13-17.

In his speech, Al Misnad referred to the negative repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that it affected development efforts in the world and created additional areas for corruption, which requires strengthening international cooperation to confront these repercussions, and overcome them through the adoption of innovative measures to support joint efforts in combatting corruption.

He stressed that the UN Convention against Corruption is the cornerstone of the international community's effort in that regard.
He called for prioritizing deliberations and decisions on prevention efforts. He also called for enhancing the provision of technical assistance to those who need it from developing countries, in order to improve their ability to implement the International Convention against Corruption.

The conference was also attended by Permanent Representative of the State to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna HE Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri.
