A delegation of female employees from Qatar Charity’s (QC) office in the Gaza Strip congratulated Dr Nasma Al-Ghoula and presented her with a commemorative shield in recognition of her achievement of a doctoral degree. Dr Al-Ghoula is the first visually impaired woman in the Gaza Strip to receive a doctoral degree.

On this occasion, Yousef Al-Khulaifi, general supervisor of the ‘Rofaqa’ initiative, said, “On behalf of Qatar Charity, we congratulate Dr Nasma Al-Ghoula for obtaining her doctorate as the first visually impaired woman in the Gaza Strip to receive this academic degree. We consider this achievement a source of pride for the ‘Rofaqa’ Initiative, which provided care and support by sponsoring this talented woman with disabilities, and this is one of the blessed outcomes of the initiative.”

Mohammed Abu Haloub, director of QC’s office in the Gaza Strip, emphasised the significant role QC plays in caring for vulnerable individuals in Palestine, including orphans, people with disabilities and needy families. QC sponsors more than 15,000 individuals in the region, meeting their various needs.

Dr Al-Ghoula’s success is seen as an embodiment of QC’s contribution to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, including promoting equitable and quality education for all and fighting poverty.

On achieving her dream, Dr Nasma expressed deep gratitude and immense appreciation to her generous sponsors and QC. She said, “Since my childhood, you have never hesitated to extend a helping hand.”

She notes that Qatar and its people made a distinctive impact on her life by extending their financial and moral support to her. She prayed that the Almighty would continue their generosity, elevate their status and perpetuate their grace.

Dr Al-Ghoula aspires to become a lecturer, participate in conferences, publish research papers on disability-related issues, and enhance her skills through training sessions, with the goal of sharing her knowledge and experiences with students with disabilities.
