DOHA: The Qatar Meteorology Department issued a warning on Saturday regarding deteriorating weather conditions, with poor horizontal visibility expected in certain areas.

In its daily weather report, the department cautioned residents about the evolving weather patterns inshore and offshore.

According to the meteorological forecast, inshore conditions until 6pm on Saturday are anticipated to be characterized by haziness and mist, potentially escalating to fog in some regions as the night progresses. As a result, the department has advised individuals to exercise caution while driving or engaging in outdoor activities during this period.

Offshore weather is expected to be hazy with occasional cloud cover. Wind patterns inshore will be primarily easterly to southeasterly, blowing at speeds ranging from 2 to 12 knots, occasionally gusting up to 20 knots in specific areas. Offshore winds will also predominantly follow an easterly to southeasterly direction, clocking in at speeds of 3 to 13 knots, later becoming variable and dropping to less than 3 knots during the night.

The visibility forecast for inshore areas is estimated to range from 4 to 8 kilometers, with localized patches potentially experiencing visibility as low as 2 kilometers or even less later in the evening. This low visibility could pose challenges for commuters and mariners alike.

Regarding sea conditions, the department reports that inshore areas will experience sea states ranging from 1 to 2 feet, while offshore regions are expected to have slightly higher sea states of 2 to 3 feet.

Residents and individuals planning activities at sea are urged to stay updated on weather conditions and exercise caution, especially in areas where visibility is expected to be significantly reduced. It is recommended to heed any further advisories from the Meteorology Department to ensure safety during this period of challenging weather.
