DOHA:German international Julian Draxler has made a significant move in his football career as he touched down in Doha on Saturday, bidding farewell to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and setting his sights on a new chapter with Al Ahli.
On Sunday, Draxler is slated to undergo a crucial medical examination, marking a pivotal step towards the formalization of his signing with Al Ahli. The club, in anticipation of their new acquisition, shared captivating photos of Draxler's arrival in Qatar across their social media platforms yesterday.
Draxler's decision to join Al Ahli follows in the footsteps of Marco Verratti and Abdou Diallo, both of whom recently made transfers from PSG to Al Arabi. The midfielder had spent the previous season on loan at Benfica and had not featured for PSG in the current season.
With a World Cup victory under his belt in 2014 with the German national team, Draxler initially made his move to PSG back in 2017 from VFL Wolfsburg.
Al Ahli has been notably active in the transfer market this season, securing the services of several prominent players, including Finnish international Robin Tihi, Tunisia's Naïm Sliti, and Idrissa Doumbia from Sporting CP.
The addition of Draxler to Al Ahli's roster brings further firepower to the team's arsenal as they set their sights on achieving success in their upcoming campaigns.
