Ambassador Badr bin Omar Al Dafa, Commissioner General of Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture, has revealed that the exhibition, which will be launched on the second of October for a period of 179 days, will witness the largest international participation in the history of the horticultural Expo exhibitions.

It is expected that international participation will exceed 80 countries and international organizations.

He confirmed, in press statements, that the number of countries and international organizations that have completed all procedures for participation in the exhibition to date has reached 79, while some countries and regional and international organizations will complete their procedures before the launch of the exhibition.

He said that the recent meeting of the General Commissioners, which was attended by 46 commissioners from the countries participating in the exhibition, was an occasion for coordination and preparation for this important global event, as well as an emphasis on the commitment of the participants to ensuring the success of the exhibition. The exhibition is being held for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region, and in the country, which has a dry desert climate.

"The discussions with the commissioners revolved around establishing an environment of cooperation and partnership within the framework of this event that everyone is waiting for. The participants reviewed the various organizational aspects, including the operational processes in the various regions. They made visits and tours to the exhibition site in Al Bidda Park, and expressed their satisfaction with the good organization being carried out,” he added.

The Organising Committee of Expo 2023 Doha, and all commissioners expected that the exhibition would achieve a resounding success beyond all previous editions, especially with the great success of in organising the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 last year.

He stressed that the 2023 Doha Horticultural Expo gives participating countries and international organizations an unprecedented opportunity to showcase their creative initiatives, agricultural practices, diverse cultures and rich heritage. During the exhibition, special celebrations will be organized on the National Day of each participating country.

He pointed out that some of the participating countries intend to invite a number of their celebrities and stars in various artistic, sports and political fields to be present in their pavilions on their National Day.

There will also be a special area to discover the countries’ food habits, as well as various daily activities that will be revealed soon. It is expected that it attracts many visitors.

In the context of the continued support of Qatar to the least developed countries, he confirmed that more than 70 percent of these countries will participate in the exhibition, to enable them to showcase their latest projects, investment opportunities, qualifications and ideas to confront the challenges of food security and climate change, which enhances from its opportunities to obtain support and fruitful cooperation partnerships at the bilateral and multilateral levels, whether with investors from the participating private sector or from international organizations.

He said the organizing committee was keen for international participation in the World Expo to be diverse and integrated, as Expo 2023 Doha will be distinguished by prominent Gulf and Arab participation, including the presence of two pavilions for each of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the League of Arab States, in addition to pavilions Especially for regional and international organizations interested in confronting climate and environmental challenges.

He pointed out that the international zone in the exhibition will form a beautiful summary of all continents, as visitors will learn about the diverse cultures of the participating countries, their achievements and their ambitions in relation to the four main themes that the exhibition addresses, which are modern agriculture, technology and innovation, environmental awareness, and sustainability.

Al Dafa stressed that this exhibition confirms Qatar’s commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation, in line with its National Vision 2030, which encourages global partnership and solidarity to confront environmental challenges and achieve sustainable development goals.
