The bonds between Qatar and Mexico are rapidly strengthening, reflecting the goodwill of their peoples and governments, Ambassador of the United Mexican States to Qatar HE Jose Guillermo Ordorica Robles has said. “These strengthened ties aim to add value to their exchanges across various domains, while both nations act as responsible global actors committed to multilateralism, international law, and peace,” he said.
The envoy made these remarks at a gala reception he hosted on the occasion of the 213th anniversary of the beginning of Mexico’s National Independence Movement.
Several notable dignitaries attended the event, including HE Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, Minister of Labour; HE Ambassador Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro, Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Almuhannad Ali Al-Hammadi, Acting Director, Department of American Affairs; diplomats, dignitaries and guests.
Ambassador Robles highlighted the steady growth of the agenda between Qatar and Mexico since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1975. This growing agenda, he noted, offers significant opportunities in various strategic fields, and both countries are working to deepen their cooperation. He stressed the importance of enhancing political dialogue and strengthening bonds through various platforms for exchanges.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude on behalf of Mexico for Qatar’s support during the FIFA World Cup 2022, praising Qatar’s success in organising world-class events and fostering better understanding among nations. He extended his thanks for Qatar’s warm welcome and hospitality during the tournament.
Ambassador Robles also acknowledged the vital role played by the vibrant Mexican community in strengthening the bonds between both nations. He praised the community for its talent and creativity, contributing to Qatar’s economic and social life.
He emphasized the Embassy’s commitment to creating better conditions for closer ties between the peoples and governments of Qatar and Mexico.
Ambassador Robles concluded by highlighting the significance of marking the 213th anniversary of Mexico, which represents the heroism and struggle of those who fought for Mexico’s freedom and sovereignty between 1810 and 1821. He noted that this marked the beginning of Mexico’s transformation into a nation committed to the rule of law, social justice, and friendly relations with the international community.
