A COLLECTION of photographs showing familiar landmarks and scenes from across Qatar and several portraits of Filipino community members were unveiled during the opening of a photography exhibition held at the B Square Mall in Al Thumama on Friday.
The exhibit titled 'Faces and Places of Patriotism: A Photo Exhibit for a Cause' was organised by Filipino photography club Doha Shutterbugz for the benefit of the victims of armed conflict in Marawi, Philippines.
It was inaugurated by DSB President Delcon Castaneda and DSB Vice-President Ronnie Castro along with Layla Bernal al Lenjawi of United Filipino Entrepreneurs in Qatar (UFEQ), Abdul Majeed al Lenjawi, B Square Mall Leasing Manager Hisham Sameer, HERO Qatar Founding Chairman Henry Dimaano, and other community leaders.
The exhibit - which will be on display until September 9 -is part of the week-long programme of DSB for their cause which will include a photography workshop and a photoshoot.
"We are happy to provide a platform for our members to showcase their talents to a wider audience. The scenes captured through the lenses of the participating photographers pays tribute to the host country. We hope that it will be supported by members of the community so that we can realise our objective of raising funds for our beneficiaries in the Philippines," DSB official Castro remarked on the occasion.
The exhibition includes creative shots of the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, Aspire Park, Zubarah Fort and the Corniche. The photographs are for sale and it starts from QR100, according to the organisers.
Community leader Dimaano lauded Filipino photographers in Qatar for taking bold steps in presenting their works to an international audience. Prior to the DSB photography exhibit for a cause, some of its members and other Filipino photo clubs also opened an exhibit in Katara which will be available for public viewing until September 10.
