The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced the launch of a programme aimed at developing the skills of public school leaders. Training for this programme will commence on September 24, and will continue until February 2024.

Director of the Training and Development Center at MoEHE Iman Salman Al Mohannadi said the ministry, particularly the Training and Development Centre, is committed to enhancing the skills of all individuals in the education sector to align with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Human Development Pillar.

Al Mohannadi stressed the crucial role of school leadership in enhancing student learning and fostering a conducive learning environment within schools. She mentioned that the idea for this program emerged from a collaboration between MoEHE, the Qatar Leadership Center (QLC), and Harvard University, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States.

The programme is designed to benefit Qatari principals and academic deputies from 45 primary, middle, and secondary government schools. The training modules, prepared by Harvard University, will be delivered by a group of instructors, including the head of the Harvard Graduate School of Studies. Al Mohannadi explained that the programme will encompass field educational experiences and seven training modules, with five to be conducted in Qatar and two in the United States of America. Participants will receive a certificate from Harvard University upon completion of the programme.

The programme’s objectives include developing the skills of school leaders, providing insights into human resource management, and improving learning outcomes in Qatar’s government schools.

She explained that the programme targets Qatari principals and academic deputies of both genders in 45 primary, middle and secondary government schools.

The training modules were designed and prepared at Harvard University and will be presented by a group of lecturers, including the head of the Harvard Graduate School of Studies.

She stated that the program will provide field educational experiences and seven training modules, of which five will be offered in the State of Qatar and two in the United States of America. The trainee will receive a certificate (without a degree) from Harvard University.
