The ties between Qatar and Indonesia stand as a profound testament to the effectiveness of diplomacy and international cooperation. Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar HE Ridwan Hassan underscored the significance of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s address at the UN General Assembly, which spotlighted Qatar’s pivotal role on the global stage, accentuating its remarkable contributions in the humanitarian sphere and its dedication to fostering international peace and security.

The ambassador said, “The speech by the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the UNGA has been a confirmation of Qatar’s pivotal presence on the global arena. Qatar’s role in the humanitarian field, for example, is indisputable.”

Ambassador Ridwan Hassan highlighted Qatar’s remarkable presence in the humanitarian field, emphasizing that Qatar Charity and Qatar Red Crescent consistently ranked among the first responders in times of natural disasters, thus showcasing Qatar’s unwavering commitment to alleviating human suffering. He portrayed Qatar as a beacon of compassion and a prominent global player in the humanitarian sphere.

Ambassador Ridwan Hassan further emphasized Qatar’s instrumental role in addressing complex global issues, such as the situation in Afghanistan. He pointed out the collaborative efforts between Qatar and Indonesia, highlighting that Qatar’s engagement extended beyond traditional security concerns.

“On Afghanistan issue for example, Qatar, as well as Indonesia, has been working together with other countries, not only to bring peace and security there, but also to mainstreaming some key issues such as education and woman empowerment in Afghanistan. In short, the speech of HH Sheikh Tamim in UNGA has reflected Qatar’s prominent global presence,” he commented.

He stated: “I would like also to underline the excellent bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar. Our cooperation has growth positively in every field ranging from political to economic and socio-culture. We appreciate the presence of Qatari investment in Indonesia, which is expected to be more in the future”.

He added: “On socio-culture, the presence of Indonesia and its community in Qatar becomes stronger with the appointment of Indonesia as the partner country of Qatar Year of Culture. We thank the Qatari government and community for the support and friendships rendered to us”.

He highlighted the strides made in diverse areas, ranging from political engagements to robust economic ties. This positive momentum bodes well for the future, especially with the anticipation of increased Qatari investments in Indonesia. The Qatar-Indonesia relationship stands as a paragon of diplomatic finesse and global cooperation, he said.
