THE first phase of the Geological Maps project in Qatar has been completed in cooperation with Gannett Fleming Company and the United States Geological Survey.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) held the final meeting of the project in Doha recently. Director of the MME's Municipal and Environmental Studies Center Dr Mohammed bin Saif al Kuwari, Director of Infrastructure Planning Department Eng Ibrahim Abbas and the technical team in charge of the project took part in the meeting.
The first phase comprises the collection, analysis and validation of relevant data and storing the information in the Infrastructure Planning Management Database. It also includes establishing a comprehensive framework for the project's next phases.
Upon completion of all phases, the important national project will provide detailed maps, surveys and geological reports of the country. It will feature three-dimensional models of the geo-engineering features in and around Doha area as well as a detailed survey of the natural resources that can be used in construction projects.
