The Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani paid a visit to the Al Udeid Air Base on Monday.
During the visit, HH the Emir inspected the Qatari Emiri Air Force and the Combined Air Operations Center for the US Central Command.
HH the Emir was briefed on the strategy of the Emiri Air Force, especially about the joint Air Defense Forces and command units, by Commander of the Emiri Air Force Major-General (Pilot) Mubarak Mohammed al Kumait al Khayarin.
After that, HH the Emir inspected a number of combat and transport aircraft, helicopters, in addition to some military vehicles and air military equipment. HH the Emir was also briefed on the air operations plan and the tasks and duties of the Qatari Emiri Air Force.
HH the Emir met in the Combined Air Operations Center for the US Central Command with Commander of the US Air Forces Central Command Lt Gen Jeffrey Harrigian and a number of senior US officers where they reviewed the joint Qatari-US military defence cooperation and the mutual cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism.
HH the Emir was accompanied during the visit by the Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed al Attiyah. (QNA)
