DOHA: The Qatar Meteorology Department has issued a warning regarding poor horizontal visibility in parts of the country as weather conditions are expected to deteriorate until 6pm on Thursday.

According to the department's daily weather report, inshore areas will experience misty to foggy conditions initially, with daytime temperatures expected to be hot. There is also a possibility of local cloud cover around noon. However, the most significant concern highlighted in the report is the anticipated poor horizontal visibility in some locations.

Offshore areas, on the other hand, will experience hazy conditions with occasional cloud formations.

The wind patterns are expected to vary, with inshore winds starting as variable and less than 5 knots, later shifting to northwesterly to northeasterly winds blowing at speeds of 5 to 15 knots. Offshore areas will also witness variable winds, ranging from northeasterly to northwesterly, blowing at speeds of 3 to 13 knots.

Visibility in inshore areas is predicted to range between 4 to 8 kilometers, with some areas experiencing visibility as low as 2 kilometers or even less, especially initially. Offshore, visibility is expected to be in the range of 4 to 8 kilometers.

The sea state in inshore areas is forecasted to be relatively calm, with waves reaching heights of 1 to 2 feet. Meanwhile, offshore sea conditions will be slightly more turbulent, with wave heights ranging from 1 to 3 feet.

Residents and travelers in affected areas are advised to exercise caution and stay updated with the latest weather reports as they plan their activities during this period of reduced visibility. It is essential to drive safely and use appropriate precautions when navigating the roads or waters under these challenging weather conditions.
