Al Markhiya defeated Al Shamal 2-0 thanks to an early strike by M Soltani (10') and an own goal by Abdullah El Rady (75'), in their Ooredoo Cup Round 2 match at the Grand Hamad Stadium on Saturday. Later, at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, Rodrigo Rabata scored in the 11th minute to earn Al Rayyan a crucial 1-0 win over Al Gharafa. Following their win, Al Markhiya now sit at the top of the Group B standings, followed by Al Duhail in the second place despite having placed only once. Al Rayyan’s first win in the tournament lifted them to the third place ahead of Al Gharafa (fourth) and Al Shamal (fifth).
