MES Indian School, in collaboration with Nammude Adukkalathottam, a Doha based Indian expatriates-run farming unit affiliated to the Indian Cultural Centre, is setting up kitchen gardens on its sprawling campus. One of the prime objectives of the initiative is to bring awareness among students about the importance of utility-oriented gardening and staying connected to mother earth.
As a part of clean air drive and promotion of organic farming, the school decided to maximise the utilisation of its vacant land areas to establish vegetable gardens.
In addition to the existing vegetable garden of pumpkins and cabbage, the present initiative will encompass the entire campus bringing about a greener and cleaner environment.
"In a short span of time, we will be able to convert the campus into a green land of organic kitchen plants. It is essential that we add detoxifying agents like the organic produce to our food to enhance our health," said Principal Hameeda Kadar.
