Qatar Tourism has announced that it will be hosting the Eid Festival from May 3-5 May and the 18th Edition of Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition 2022 from May 9 to 13.
The announcement came during its Annual Tourism Industry Ramadan Ghabga which brought industry partners from the public and private sectors together in celebration.
Indian actor Alia Bhatt will inaugurate the 18th edition of DJWE in Doha on May 9-13.
The glittery exhibition will host more than 65 exhibitors, including 500 renowned international brands, as well as exclusive pavilions from Turkey and India. There will also be a series of workshops with jewellery and watches experts.
Following the resumption of in-person events and festivals, residents and visitors will enjoy three days of exciting family entertainment experiences at the Eid Festival at Doha Corniche. The festival will include region’s first-ever giant balloon parade, marching bands, daily firework displays, carnival games and food stalls.
In a statement, Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said, “We are entering an exciting new chapter after a period of great difficulty in the tourism industry, thanks to the collaborative efforts and support from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). We have successfully resumed all tourism activity in time to host the highly awaited FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and we have an exciting line-up of events for residents and visitors to Qatar to enjoy.”
Qatar Tourism works closely with partners from the public and private sectors to develop products, services and events that attract domestic, regional, and international visitors year-round.
Berthold Trenkel, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Tourism, said, “We are gearing up to host the first-ever Eid Festival that will take place from May 3-5 at Doha Corniche. Residents and visitors will get to enjoy three days of exciting family entertainment experiences at the Eid Festival.”
For the Eid festival, the parades will start at 16:30; live music performances at 19:30 and fireworks display at 21:00. Carnival games, F&B stalls and roaming shows will be at 16:30 – 23:00.
For the live concerts which will start at 19:30 daily will feature Iraqi artist Mahmoud Al Turki on May 3; Nasser Al Kubeissi (local artist) and a local band on MAY 4; and Saudi artist Sultan Khalifa on May 5. The entry is free along the Doha Corniche.
Spanning over 33,000 square metres, DJWE will feature 19 Qatari designers. Owned by Qatar Tourism and organised by Qatar Business Events Corporation (QBEC), the event is sponsored by Qatar Airways, QNB and Al Fardan automotive. The opening timings will be Monday, May 9: 3:00- 22:00; Tuesday May 10 – Thursday May 12: 12:00-22:00; and Friday May 13: 16:00 – 22:00.
