DOHA: His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, King of the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, discussed the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest, especially developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories.

During the meeting held at Lusail Palace on Wednesday evening, consultations and views were exchanged on advancing regional and international diplomatic efforts to demand an immediate ceasefire and the protection of civilians in Gaza, and to work hard to achieve just and comprehensive peace for the Palestinian issue in a radical and final manner, to ensure security and stability in the region.

In this regard, His Highness the Amir stressed the firm position of Qatar on the Palestinian issue and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, especially their right to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, and its condemnation of all violations of the Palestinian people, their lands, and their sanctities that undermine access to a fair solution to the issue.

For his part, His Majesty the King of Jordan expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for his continued support for the Palestinian cause and just Arab causes.

Ways to strengthen fraternal ties and relations between the two countries in various fields were also discussed, to achieve the common aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

On this occasion, His Highness the Amir held a dinner in honour of His Majesty the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, Head of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Head of the State Security Service HE Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Khulaifi, and several senior officials.

On the Jordanian side, it was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Jordan, Prime Minister HE Dr Bishr Hani Al Khasawneh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs HE Ayman Al Safadi, and several members of the accompanying delegation.
