A total of 16 teams took part in Cric Qatar’s two-day Eid Cup cricket tournament. Organised by the HIQ Group, the tournament aims to provide opportunities to expatriate youth in Qatar to show their skills with bat and ball, said Syed Rafi, the chairman of Cric Qatar. This was their 16th tournament.The tournament was also meant to celebrate Eid Al-Adha with a mix of nationalities wherein expatriate players from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal participated. The final match was played between Doha Revolt Stars and Asian XI team.Batting first, Doha Revolt Stars scored 93 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated eight overs. Chasing the target, Asian XI team were able to score 90 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the given eight overs.Shammad of Doha Revolt Stars was declared man of the match for scoring 31 runs in 16 balls with 2 boundaries and 3 sixes and taking 3 wickets in his 2-over spell. From Asian XI the top scorer was Lasantha Fernando with 44 runs from 20 balls with 6 sixes and 1 boundary. He also claimed 2 wickets in his bowling spell. Syed Rafi thanked the committee members, Mohd Irfan, Mohd Atif, Tanwir, Syed Tausif, Ayub, Mohd Farhan, Umair for their immense support in successfully organising the tournament at a short notice of just 6 days.The 16 teams which participated in this cricket tournament were QBC Rangers, HIQ Cricket Club, Abunakhla CC, United Lanka, MarcQatar, Coastal Kings, Highway Boys CC, Asian XI, Doha Revolt Stars, New Bharat CC, DPS Challengers, Rising Stars CC, Black Tech Boys, Al Meer CC, Massive CC and Aando Team. Syed Rafi thanked all the teams for their trust and confidence in Cric Qatar and assured them of much better matches in future ahead. (TNN)
