Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) joined the global celebration of Arab Nurses and Midwives Day on November 3, a day dedicated to honouring the invaluable contributions of nurses and midwives in the healthcare sector. This will be continued to be highlighted in the upcoming 3rd Arab Nurses and Midwives Conference 2023 taking place mid-November in Doha.

Mariam Al-Mutawa, acting chief nursing officer at HMC, said that this day is decreed by the Arab Board of Ministers of Health in recognition of the immense value and importance of nurses and midwives working in the Arab world, regardless of where they come from or what nationality they carry.“This day serves as a reminder of the tireless efforts, unwavering dedication and the profound impact that all nurses and midwives who work across the Arab world have on the health and well-being of individuals and society. HMC extends its deepest appreciation for the pivotal role they play in providing compassionate care, promoting health, and improving the well-being of our communities.”

The Arab World consists of 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Bahrain, the Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

Al-Mutawa said: “This special day isn’t just about nurses and midwives finding joy and celebrating their noble professions. It serves as a chance to foster unity within our community, connecting not only with fellow healthcare professionals and organisations locally but also establishing bonds with our regional colleagues.”

“Our nurses and midwives are the heart and soul of healthcare. They embody the values of compassion, excellence, and professionalism, and their contributions are instrumental in achieving our mission of providing world-class healthcare services. It is with this in mind that we will once again host the Arab Nurses and Midwives Conference in Qatar on Friday, November 17, and Saturday November 18, and welcome all nursing and midwifery professionals to register and attend what is going to be an amazing educational and celebratory event.”

The conference will take place at the Westin Hotel in Doha and will feature international and local speakers as well as cultural and fun activities from the 22 Arab nations. This year’s theme, ‘Arab Nurses and Midwives: Together as the Force for Global Health and for Our Future’, is aimed at acknowledging the resilience, compassion, and expertise that Arab nurses and midwives consistently demonstrate. The one and a half-day event will include Poster or research presentations, panel discussions, professional development workshops, photography competition and exhibition, cultural celebrations and provide amazing networking opportunities.

Nurses and midwives living and working in Qatar can participate in person and earn up to 10 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, they simply need to visit the conference website to register: https://www.hamad.qa/3ANMC2023.
