The Pakistan International School–Qatar (PIS-Q) organised an award-giving ceremony to honour high achievers of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) and Cambridge examinations.
The event was graced by Pakistan Ambassador and Chairman of PIS-Q Board of Governors, HE Dr Muhemmed Aejaz, as the chief guest.
Syed Asif Ali Shah, principal of Cambridge Branch, PIS-Q, presented the annual accumulative report highlighting the achievements, challenges, and milestones of the past year.
The toppers were presented with merit certificates, shields and rolls of honour. A total of 51 students in SSC-II and HSSC-II were honoured for achieving ‘A1’ grades.
The proud recipients of the overall first position holders in their respective groups were Hafsa Sajid (SSC, Sc), Bushra Qazi (SSC, Humanities), Maryam Fatima (HSSC, Pre-Med), Abdullah Ejaz Janjua (HSSC, Pre-Eng), Azka Qazi (HSSC, Science General), Sara Arif Zaman (HSSC, Comm) and Ifra Mukhtar Ahmed (HSSC, Humanities).
Maimoona Muhammad Luqman Khan (SSC, Sc), Maimoona Yasin (SSC, Humanities), Hareem Khan (HSSC, Pre-Med), Habib ur Rehman (HSSC, Pre-Eng), Aroosa Khan (HSSC, Sc Gen), Fatima Ahmad Siddiqui (HSSC, Comm) and Faryal Fazil (HSSC, Humanities) were awarded for notching overall second positions in their respective groups.
Huzaifa Ahmad (SSC, Sc), Maryam Nasir Khan (SSC, Humanities), Hafsa Imran (HSSC, Pre-Med), Zayan Zainab (HSSC, Pre-Eng), Muhammad Huzaifa Siddiqui (HSSC, Sc Gen), Khadija Naeem (HSSC, Comme) and Eiman Muzammal Hussain (HSSC, Humanities) were feted for getting overall third positions in their respective groups.
In addition to recognising the achievements of students from the Conventional Branch, the institution also acknowledged the resilient efforts of top scorers from the Cambridge branch. In the first category, merit certificates were presented to exceptionally talented students from the year 10 Cambridge Branch. A total of 26 students received the coveted certificates and shields. Aayan Zeb received the top scorer award for securing 9A*. Sojoud Hamid and Haiqa Anwar received the second highest award for scoring 8A* each, while Arsha Fatima and Areej Zeb were honoured with the third highest award for securing 6A* each. Three students -- Huda Nasir, Muhemmed Rafay and Khadija Mansoor -- of Cambridge Branch got special prizes and commendation certificates for achieving distinctions in different subjects.
In a commendable initiative, the school awarded the Jinnah Scholarship for academic excellence, which will be given to two outstanding students, one each from the branch every year.
The recipients of 2023 award were Aayan Zeb, a brilliant scholar from the Cambridge branch, who has been honoured for securing 9A* in the CAIE May/June 2023 exams and Hafsa Sajid from the Conventional Branch who has been recognised for her exceptional performance, having scored an impressive 1,047 marks in the SSC-II Annual Exam (Sc Group) conducted by FBISE in 2023. The school will cover all educational expenses for these two deserving students.
The school recognised the outstanding achievements of two of its students in extra-curricular activities. Zaland Saeed was awarded with a roll of honour for showcasing extraordinary skills in cricket, representing Qatar National Cricket Team in the under-19 Premier Cricket Cup held in Malaysia in 2023.
Abdul Qayyum earned the roll of honour for representing Qatar in the U-15 Handball Team Tour to Bosnia in 2023.
The school also acknowledged the contributions of its teaching staff by conferring Best Teachers Awards. Those honoured with shields, merit certificates, and cash prizes for achieving the highest number of A1 and A grades included Muhammad Waseem Yousaf (SBW), Razia Sardar (SGW), Rukhsana Naheed (SGW), Bushra Munir (SGW), Tasawar Munir (Camb) and Aysha Iram (Camb).
The Best Subject Teachers awards were given to Nosheen Saba (Eng), Adeela Rubab (Urdu), Ummarah Ahsan (Islam), Mahjabeen Baloch (Pak St), and Sana Naeem and Sumayya Hameed (Chem).
Teachers from both the branches who received the Popularity Vote award for demonstrating their ability to connect with students and foster an inclusive classroom environment, included Dr Umar Khan (SBW), Anwar Shah (SBW), Naeem Fakhar (SBW), Mahjabeen Baloch (SGW), Sabah Mujeeb (SGW), Waheed Iqbal (SBW), Zainab Ishtiaq (Camb), Irfan Haider (Camb) and Arzoo Sadaf (Camb).
Muhammed Rafay, Huda Nasir and Khadija Mansoor who excelled in English, Urdu and Social Studies, respectively, and their mentors Hafiz Ashraf Ali, Tasawar Munir and Tabassam Naqvi were presented with distinction certificates.
Dr Neelam Nisar, principal of Conventional Branch, PIS-Q, felicitated the proud achievers on their splendid academic performance and stressed on the need for incessant support and constant backing of the parents.
The ambassador congratulated all the students and their teachers who received awards. He said these awards signify milestones in their educational and personal journeys, reflecting their dedication and commitment to excel in their respective classes. He also extended his gratitude to the teachers for their vital role in shaping the students’ minds and nurturing their talents.
