Customs inspectors have thwarted attempts to smuggle in large quantities of narcotics, firearms and ammunition through the Hamad International Airport and Abu Samra Border Port.
The contraband items include 46 kg of narcotic marijuana, 200,000 Captagon tablets, two firearms and 2,500 bullets.
The attempt to smuggle in marijuana was foiled by the Hamad International Airport Customs Department, as inspectors of Air Cargo and Private Airports Customs Department thwarted the attempt to sneak in Captagon tablets.
The firearms and bullets were seized from a car at Abu Samra Border Port.
Chairman of the General Authority of Customs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Ahmed al Jammal honoured 10 inspectors from the Hamad International Airport Customs Department, Air Cargo and Private Airports Customs Department, and Land Customs Department, for the seizure.
