The fifth meeting of the Follow-up Committee on the execution of the agreement concerning the implementation of the Doha Declaration was held at the Ministry of Interior headquarters on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Qatari representatives in the committee for the implementation of Doha Declaration.
The Qatari side was led by Major-General Dr Abdullah Yousuf al Mal, advisor to the Minister of Interior. The delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime was led by John Brandolino, director of Division for Treaty Affairs at UN Office.
The meeting reviewed the three pillars of the Doha Declaration 2015 - Judicial Integrity, Rehabilitation for Prisoners & Youth Crime Prevention through Sports-based programmes and Education for Justice - in addition to the progress made in it as well as options and efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The meeting also conferred to encourage member states to implement and make more effective use of the relevant international conventions and protocols against terrorism and reviewed the stages of implementation of the World Program for the Doha Declaration.
The Follow-up Committee of Doha Declaration was set up to follow up on the Doha Agreement Implementation Program, which was signed on November 27, 2015. The Agreement provides for Qatar to fund projects and initiatives recommended by the Doha Declaration of the Thirteenth Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Doha in April 2015 for the next four years until the 14th Congress on Crime Prevention is held in Japan in 2020.
