Two Pakistani movies, London Nahi Jaunga and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad, stirred great excitement among cinegoers and added colour to the Eid Al-Adha festivities in Qatar. Pakistani filmmakers are known to release movies on Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha as they find these occasions a lucrative time for business when movie theatres see a huge influx of cinegoers.Following the popularity of Pakistani television dramas, the Pakistani film industry has started to make its mark not just domestically but also internationally. Pakistani cinema is well on the road to its revival. Until recently, the Pakistan film industry was going through a downward spiral but it has started doing pretty well recently and is on course to successfully reviving the lost sheen. “Undoubtedly, the revival of Pakistani cinema after COVID-19 has brought excitement to cine-goers in Pakistan as well as abroad. We are quite happy to see that Pakistani movies are showcased in Qatar. Earlier, we had only a limited choice of Bollywood, Hollywood and regional movies,” said Nasir Mehmood, a regular cine-goer. “It is a matter of great pride that the Pakistani film industry is on the road to revival. We need movies which are full of entertainment and could be watched with our families. I am pretty sure that Pakistani movie makers are quite capable of producing excellent films,” said Ahmed Ali, a long-time Doha resident. ‘London Nahi Jaunga’ stars Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat, Gohar Rasheed, Kubra Khan, Vasay Chaudhry, Saba Faisal, Asif Raza Mir, Saba Hameed and Salman Shahid. It has been directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Khalilur Rehman Qamar.‘Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad’, an action-comedy movie, features Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan. Fizza Ali Meerza has produced the movie while Nabeel Qureshi has produced it.
