Chief organiser of Punjab Music Group, Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan, received Excellence Performance Award 2022 at the 16th Bolan Pak Gulf Award ceremony held in Dubai, the UAE recently.Prominent personalities from art, culture and business sectors residing in Pakistan and abroad were feted during a colourful ceremony organised by Bolan Cultural Society.Bolan awards were instituted by CEO Khaleeq Ahmed four decades ago in Pakistan. For many, Khan is just a tabla player who provides musical accompaniment to local vocalists during musical concerts held in Qatar but not many know that he is working with a mission in his mind – a mission of providing a platform to local artistes where they could polish their latent skills. With this mission in his mind, Khan established Punjab Music Group (PMG) a decade ago with the help of a group of like-minded people. The group started its activities by organising concerts at various locations in which local artistes belonging to different nationalities were invited to perform. With the passage of time, most of the singers who performed for the first time in front of live audience, are now counted among the established singers. Later the group decided to broaden the horizon of its activities by inviting renowned artistes from India and Pakistan. PMG regularly organises events to mark National Days of Qatar and Pakistan. It also hosts programmes on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha and International Labour Day.Khan, who is also a singer, received formal training in tabla from Pakistan’s noted musicians Ustad Sajjad Ali Khan and Mehmood Ghaznavi Sabiri. He has performed in various countries and received a number of awards. PMG’s platform is open to members of all nationalities in Qatar and anyone interesting in singing can become member of the forum. Khan can be contacted on GSM: 77862320 for further details.
