DOHA: The Family Development Department of the Ministry of Social Development and Family organized an event on the occasion of World Children's Day, in cooperation with the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and Ajyal Educational Center.

In a statement, the Ministry stated that the event was within the framework of the Ministry's plans aimed at caring for childhood and its keenness on ensuring healthy and happy children and promoting togetherness between them and the segments of the Qatari society, especially within the importance attached by the State of Qatar to the family and to establishing a set of rights, including the rights of the child that uphold his right to life, health, education, and equality.

The three-day events focused on a number of recreational, awareness, and interactive activities and workshops to develop children's skills of various interests, encourage creativity and playing as a way to learn and express the communication of information spontaneously and enhance the spirit of teamwork among them.

Director of Family Development Department Dhabia Al Maqbali noted the importance of the event in activating World Children's Day as well as children's rights that seek to protect the child psychologically, physically, and scientifically, while appreciating the efforts of all the participating parties that sought to promote joy and pleasure in children and their families.

World Children's Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day and is celebrated by the world on Nov. 20 each year to promote international togetherness, and awareness among children worldwide, and improve children's welfare.
