Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, met on Monday with Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Lebanon Amin Salam and his accompanying delegation at the Chamber’s venue.

Also present at the meeting QC Second Vice-Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba and HE Ms. Farah Barry, Chargé d ‘affairs of the Lebanese Embassy in the State of Qatar, and a number of QC board members.

The meeting deliberated upon aspects of commercial and economic cooperation and strengthening relations between the private sector on both sides.

Speaking at the meeting, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim praised the strong fraternal relations between Qatar and the Lebanese Republic, stressing Qatar Chamber’s keenness to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with the Lebanese side, in a way that contributes to an develop their trade exchange, which has grown by 29% over the past five years from QR 532 million in 2017 to QR 684 million in 2022. However, this growth remains below our ambitions.

HE indicated that there are numerous Lebanese products in the Qatari market, emphasizing their high quality and reasonable prices.

Underscoring the Qatar Chamber’s interest in developing relations between Qatari businessmen and their Lebanese counterparts, Sheikh Khalifa stated that Qatar has emerged as a regional trading hub, thanks to its investment incentives for foreign investors, advanced infrastructure, and leading economic legislation. Highlighting the role of the chambers of commerce in both countries, HE emphasized their contribution to promoting trade and investment between Qatari and Lebanese businessmen.

This stimulation leads to the establishment of effective partnerships and trade alliances that benefit the economies of both nations. For his part, the Lebanese Minister commended the bilateral relations between both countries, acknowledging Qatar’s consistent support for Lebanon and the presence of Qatari investments in the country.

Salam pointed out that there are numerous investment opportunities in Lebanon for Qatari businessmen.

He invited the QC Chairman to visit Lebanon with a delegation of Qatari businessmen to explore the available investment opportunities, particularly in sectors such as food security, energy, and tourism.
