The equestrian logistics arm of the Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) has flown in 91 world-class show horses from the Belgian province of Li'e8ge to Qatar.
Meant for the final leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) to be held in Doha later this month, the horses were delivered on two chartered flights, with each having one veterinarian and 10 groomsmen onboard to ensure the safety and comfort of the horses
The show jumping tournament is being organised by Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation.
GWC Chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Fahad bin Jassem bin Jabor al Thani said,"We are proud to have handled such an international project which positions Qatar as an international host destination for international sports and equestrian events."
He said GWC Equestrian has been providing consultation services for transportation of horses according to international safety standards.
For this delivery, all logistical operations have been executed according to a fully integrated plan to ensure safe transportation of the horses, equipment, and other equestrian-related assets, Sheikh Abdullah said.
Additionally, GWC Equestrian has provided value-added services, such as reservations arrangements, health permits for the horses, customs clearance at both ends of the journey and tarmac supervision, he added.
GWC has recently announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2017, achieving QR157.26 million in net profits. The company registered QR695.13 million in gross revenues at the end of the period, while earnings per share increased to QR2.68 in the first three quarters of 2017.
