MES Indian School commemorated its 43rd Annual Day, Mesmerise, with a two-day cultural celebration. Spectators witnessed a fiesta that showcased the artistic talents of its students.
The annual day celebration was dedicated to the theme, 'We love Qatar' marking the school's solidarity and support to the initiatives of the country towards world peace. The performances of the students with emphasis on national and international forms of art and culture consisted of dances, multi-lingual dramas and mimes.
Ministry of Education & Higher Education Private Schools Affairs Director Rawda Safwan Zeedan was the chief guest on the inaugural day while Indian Embassy First Secretary Hemant Kumar Dwivedi was the chief guest on the concluding day. University of Abderdeen Senior Lecturer Lorna Hunter was the guest of honour on the first day and University of Aberdeen Professor Stephen Fettes was the guest of honour on the closing day.
Dwivedi remarked that students these days are far advanced in aesthetic knowledge and artistic pursuits, and parents have to capitalise on this by enabling them to accomplish their short-term goals in order to realise their ambitions."The vibrant participation of these young talents has set a model for other students to emulate," he added.
Zeedan commended the participants on their performances and appreciated the multifaceted talents of the young generation. She also lauded the efforts of MES to be the first school in Doha to have introduced e-learning enabled classes for its students.
MES Governing Board President KP Abdul Aziz affirmed the school's commitment in taking every step to preserve and promote the interest of its students and to perfect them in their scholastic and co-scholastic endeavours.
School Principal Hameeda Kadar presented the school annual report, which highlighted the significant achievements of students in the curricular and co-curricular domains during the 2016-17 academic year. Vice-Principal and Girls' Section Head Annamma Shammy, Vice-Principal and Boys' Section Head Latha Mathew announced the scholastic achievers of their respective section for the 2016-17 academic year.
The school toppers who excelled in Class XII Board Examination were honoured with gold medals, cash prizes and certificates. Students who secured distinctions in Class X Board Examination were also honoured. The overall champions and gold medal winners of the CBSE National Athletic Meet and the Captains of Scouts and Guides were honoured with certificates and medals. The school also honoured its staff who have rendered 25 years of service.
Head Boy Saeed Ur Rahman and Head Girl Hanan Nasar welcomed the gathering while Junior Section Head Boy Naseef Subair, Boys' Section Cultural Secretary Ahmed Shabeer, and Girls' Section Cultural Secretary Ashtamy Jith proposed the vote of thanks. Cultural Convener Anver K along with his team of officials coordinated Mesmerise 2017.
