The EU Delegation in Qatar, in collaboration with the Syrian Forum and other partners, organised a special day of fun and well-being for more than 100 Syrian children residing in Qatar.

The event was held on November 24 at Oxygen Park, Education City, on the sidelines of the ‘Children Above All’ event, organised by the Education Above All Foundation (EAA).

The event, which was built on the success of the EU Delegation’s one-month Summer Camp for Syrian children in August, aimed to provide a safe and supportive environment for the children to engage in various sports and social activities, promote healthy lifestyles, and raise awareness about mental health, while supporting the cause of the EAA event.

“The EU Delegation in Qatar is proud to partner with local organisations that share our commitment to supporting children affected by conflict and displacement,” said HE Dr Cristian Tudor, Ambassador of the EU to Qatar. “Through these partnerships, we can harness power of sports to promote physical and mental well-being, foster social connections, and instil resilience in these children.”

The day-long event featured a variety of activities, including sports training sessions, friendly matches, cultural and artistic workshops, and masterclasses on mental health and nutrition. The children also had the opportunity to enjoy a series of engaging team-building games, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement.

“We, at the Syrian Forum, are deeply grateful for the all the initiatives by the EU Delegation andQatar. Their commitment to supporting Syrians is not just commendable but transformative, as evidenced by the resounding success of our recent Summer Camp,” said Eyad Nahhas, Partnerships and Programmes Development Manager of the Syrian Forum

In addition to the Syrian Forum, the EU Delegation in Qatar expressed their gratitude to its partners of the event: Aspire Academy, Qatar Financial Center (QFC), Zulal Wellness Resort, and WISH.

“Many of the children taking part in this event has had a challenging start in life, making it particularly heartwarming to see them enjoy themselves so much. At WISH, with the help of partners such as Naufar, we understand the importance of promoting good mental health through fun activities such as art workshops and sport, particularly for the most vulnerable in society. We thank the organizers for the opportunity to support this event,” said, WISH Chief Executive Officer Sultana Afdhal.
