THIRTY Class 11 and 12 students from Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA) visited Kahramaa Awareness Park as part of the first environmental system and societies' trip this year recently.
The QLA's Science and Design Technology department organised the learning trip jointly with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
QLA students learned about the historical methods and techniques used for conservation of water in the Arab world during the visit.
They also learned about a variety of topics such as, water cycle, electricity production, water purification, recycling and alternative sources of energy.
Students enjoyed learning about conservation of energy and water in modern life style.
QLA cadets received a warm welcome from Kahramaa staff. The programme started with a guided tour. The first station was a 10 minutes movie about how Qatar had become energy sustainable country. The movie also informed the students about the national conservation and energy efficiency programme 'Tarsheed'.
After the movie, student groups were taken on a short train ride through"Dana Dome", which shows a 3D film stressing the importance of conservation and recycling of water.
Students had a chance to learn about water desalination, solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, geothermal energy, nuclear energy and global warming.
Cadet Talal Jassim AA al Thani said,"I really enjoyed my trip to Kahramaa Park, especially 'The Dana Dome' and the 'Van De Graaff' generator. I am amazed to see our country making rapid strides to become a leader in sustainable use of energy and water."
