DOHA: Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani inaugurated the 9th edition of the 'Made in Qatar' exhibition, on Wednesday.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Chairman of Qatar Chamber HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, and Chairman of the Qatar Businessmen Association HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani.

The four-day exhibition is organized by the Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and is supported by various sponsoring companies and institutions, with the participation of 450 companies and factories.

Following the inauguration, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Finance and the QC Chairman toured the pavilions at the exhibition, where they were briefed about the participating companies and their products.

Additionally, they witnessed the inauguration of the Gizaz Glass Container Company under the Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company. The factory specializes in the production of glass containers used in the packaging of water, soft drinks, dairy products, and various foodstuffs.

In statements, QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to His Highness the Amir for his generous patronage of the expo. He stressed that His Highness the Amir's patronage of the expo in all editions demonstrates His Highness' interest in the Qatari industry and its role in the state's inclusive development.

Furthermore, the QC Chairman highlighted the broad participation of local companies in the expo, which reached 450 companies and factories interested in showcasing their products and services to the business community and visitors, indicating that this significant participation also reflects the keen interest of local companies to promote their products in the local market with the aim to achieve the desired self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on imports.

He pointed out the diversity of industries participating in the exhibition, spanning six sectors, including petrochemicals, furniture, foodstuffs, SMEs, services, and various others. He noted that the exhibition provides an opportunity to become acquainted with the latest products and services in the industry sector. Participants will have the chance to engage with industry experts and investors, become acquainted with successful companies operating in the state, and understand their capacity for developing businesses and enhancing competitiveness.

The QC Chairman called on businessmen, investors interested in the industry, and company representatives to visit the exhibition, learn about Qatari products, and meet Qatari manufacturers. He affirmed that the expo also serves as a platform for bilateral meetings between Qatari investors and their foreign counterparts, facilitating deal-making and fostering alliances and partnerships in the industrial sector.

For his part, Qatar Chamber General Manager and Chairman of the Made in Qatar Organizing Committee Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi said that the 9th edition of the MIQ exhibition reflected the development achieved by Qatari companies and factories year after year.

He also revealed that the expos accompanying events will include panel sessions addressing the industry sector and other topics introduced by several bodies such as QatarEnergy, QDB, Qatar Airways, Qatar Free Zone, Katara Hospitality, Qatar Exchange and Invest Qatar.

He noted that the exhibition provides an opportunity for businessmen and foreign investors to gain insights into Qatar's industrial sector and the investment opportunities available in this sector. It also serves as a platform for bilateral meetings between Qatari investors and their foreign counterparts, facilitating deal-making, and fostering alliances and partnerships in the industrial sector.
