A spectacular concert filled with tradition and tribute was held to commemorate the 16th Anniversary of Stafford Sri Lanka School Doha and to mark the investiture of the Board of Prefects for the academic year 2017/2018. For nearly two decades the school has been the guiding light for children of the Sri Lankan expatriate community living in Qatar.
The gala was held under the patronage of the school's founder Kumudu Fonseka and the trustees.
The celebration came alive with dance performances including a Kandyan dance which showcased the vibrant Sri Lankan culture.
The celebration also saw students who received exceptional results at both the AS and A2 levels of the Advanced Level Examinations as well as at the IGCSE Ordinary Levels Examinations honoured with certificates. A tribute was also paid to the teachers who guided and prepared students for the examinations.
The faculty who performed exceptionally in the Academic Year 2016/2017 in both academia and extra curricular activities were presented with certificates. All staff with a service of five or ten years were also honoured as also Qatar residents who have contributed time and efforts for the betterment of SSLSD.
The festivities concluded with the reading of congratulatory wishes by former principal Ayesha Rahuman and the singing of the National Anthems of Sri Lanka and Qatar.
