The event, organised by QU’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Organizational Excellence (CEOE), in collaboration with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Lean Construction Institute of Qatar, aims to address the urgent need for flexible and effective supply chains across industries in order to address the growing disruptions in these chains.

Scheduled for December 3 to 4, at the Hilton Doha Hotel, the symposium will gather a diverse panel of speakers, including industry experts, decision-makers and researchers.

They will share insights on various topics from developing flexible supply chain systems and practices to encompassing effective supply chain management, logistics operations and best practices, coping with disruptions, risk mitigation, speed, flexibility and response strategies.

The symposium will be open to all interested parties, including government officials, businessmen, supply chain and logistics specialists, as well as scholars, researchers and students.

Professor Rana Sobh, dean of the College of Business and Economics at QU, said: “We are honoured to organise this symposium as an effective platform for sharing knowledge and experiences among policymakers, practitioners, experts and researchers in these times of unprecedented global supply chain challenges. This event is instrumental in helping bridge the gap between research and practice in the logistics and supply chain management fields. In today’s challenging business environment, resilient supply chains are essential for competitive success.”

Dr Said Elbanna, director of CEOE, emphasised the importance of building agile and resilient supply chain systems in today’s business operations.

“The symposium will explore innovative solutions and best practices to help businesses in Qatar adapt to disruptions and maintain a competitive edge,” he said.

Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, general manager of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, acknowledged the crucial role of robust supply chain and logistics services, stating, “As a representative of the Qatari private sector, we better understand the significance of building robust supply chain and logistics systems. This symposium will serve as a catalyst for fostering collaboration among industry professionals, policymakers and academia to strengthen Qatar’s economic resilience and competitiveness. We hope to address some of the supply chain issues that firms are facing in Qatar.”

Dr Abdullah Al Sayed, president of the Qatar Design and Construction Institute, stressed the importance of flexible supply chains in today’s dynamic business landscape.

“We recognise the critical importance of resilient supply chains in today’s dynamic business landscape. The symposium provides an excellent platform to exchange ideas and best practices, enabling businesses in Qatar to enhance their supply chain capabilities and effectively mitigate disruption risks,” he said.
