OTTAWA: Members of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa Saturday, with the participation of Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al Maliki, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

The meeting discussed the dangerous developments in the Gaza Strip, the military escalation against defenseless civilians, and the importance of an immediate ceasefire to restore security and stability.

Members of the ministerial committee stressed the need for the international community to move swiftly and urgently to stop the continuous violations of international law and international humanitarian law committed by the Israeli occupation in order to ensure protection for all civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The delegation expressed dissatisfaction with the obstruction of Security Council and United Nations resolutions calling for a ceasefire and taking serious and urgent steps to ensure the security of relief corridors for the delivery of urgent humanitarian, food and medical aid to the Gaza Strip.

They urged the international community to assume its responsibility towards returning to the path of comprehensive and just peace, in a way that preserves international peace and security; voicing their concern about the expanding scope of blatant attacks carried out by the occupation forces against civilians, and the repeated violations of international law.
