THE State of Qatar reaffirmed that the peaceful uses of nuclear energy are the key to achieving development, promoting rapprochement among peoples and building a safer world for everyone.
Ambassador HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al Thani, the State of Qatar's permanent representative to the United Nations and international organisations in Vienna, made the remarks as he read the State of Qatar's statement before the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) Technical Assistance and Cooperation Committee meeting.
The permanent representative stressed that Qatar pays special attention to the development of its institutions concerned with the peaceful implementations of nuclear power, particularly in the fields of food, agriculture, human health and environment in line with the State of Qatar's long-term development project, the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The State of Qatar's permanent representative to the United Nations and international organisations in Vienna expressed Qatar's gratitude for the cooperation and expertise that IAEA offers in the implementation of projects, particularly in relation to choosing Qatar's projects for the period from 2018 to 2019 that aim to boosting local capacities in the field of medical nuclear physics and radiation protection, improving the production of dates, disposing of contaminated waste in the oil and gas sector.
He expressed hope for expanding and strengthening this cooperation in the future and speeding up Qatar's development programmes and scientific development.
