The second two-day seminar 'French Qatar Sports Days' concluded in Doha on Wednesday. It also saw the participation of representatives of Qatar Olympic Committee and a number of professionals in various sports fields.
The Director of Business France Qatar Christelle Peyran, during the seminar, said that there are many French companies working in Doha who were benefiting from France's experience in the field of sports and over two days discussed how to enhance opportunities for sports investment.
She added that there is an opportunity to strengthen this cooperation, especially as Qatar is hosting global sporting events, most notably the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
On his part, Ambassador of the French Republic to Qatar HE Eric Chevallier praised the cooperation between his country and Qatar in all fields, especially sports, stressing the need to strengthen this cooperation in the future.
The conference conducted by Mediatree, a French company which specialises in ICT contents & media set up and established in Qatar for over a decade under the sponsorship of Saad al Dabbagh, CEO of Hafeet group.
It covered various areas including smart stadiums and digital transformation, digital signage and broadcast solutions.
A cluster of 30 French companies based in Doha and French Team 4 Sport highlighted some of the projects their members are currently successfully working on.
The conference also attracted health and safety management professionals such as ISMA, the official medical manager of Euro 2016 and FIFA World Cup 1998 which was held in France.
Peyran said,"France is an innovative nation, including in sports. Le Tremplin, our first business incubator focusing on the sports sector, opened in 2016 in Paris (Jean Bouin stadium).
"We have many other examples of new technologies driven by sport like the official stadium of Nice football team, the Allianz Riviera Stadium, which is powered by 7,000 square meters of solar panels which was showcased at the seminar."
