As part of the Qatar National Day 2023 celebrations, CRIC Qatar, the premier cricket organisation in Qatar, hosted a spectacular cricket tournament featuring teams from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The grand finale of the tournament had Serandib Cricket Club pitted against Sea Birds Cricket Team, captivating cricket enthusiasts and celebrating the spirit of the game.
In a nail-biting encounter, Serandib Cricket Club batted first, posting a formidable total of 108 runs in 8 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. The Sea Birds Cricket Team, in pursuit of the target, fought valiantly but managed to score 96/6 in 8 overs, falling short of the mark. The final match showcased the talent and competitive spirit of the participating teams, adding excitement to the Qatar National Day festivities.
The felicitation ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including K S Prasad, a prominent Telugu community leader in Doha; Jai Prakash Singh, president of the Central Indian Association; and Reena Danao, while Mohinder Jalandhary, a renowned Punjabi singer, added musical flair to the event, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the spectators.
Syed Rafi, the founder and president of CRIC Qatar, expressed his gratitude during the ceremony, thanking the organising committee for their splendid efforts in ensuring the success of the tournament. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of Mukarram, Mohd Irfan, Mohd Atif, Tanveer, Umair, Asim, and the entire organising team for their dedication and hard work.
Syed Rafi also extended his heartfelt thanks to all the participating teams for their tremendous involvement in the game, commending them for their trust and confidence in CRIC Qatar. The tournament not only showcased cricketing excellence but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among the diverse communities that came together to celebrate Qatar’s National Day through the love of the sport.
