The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the draft general state budget for the fiscal year 2018.
The draft budget has been prepared with focus on completion of major infrastructure projects and projects related to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The general budget also puts emphasis on supporting food security projects.
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani, referred the main draft budget and draft law to the Advisory (Shura) Council.
In addition, the draft budget also focuses on continuing work on increasing non-oil revenues, increasing the efficiency of public spending, allocating financial resources for the development of housing plots for citizens and on supporting projects related small and medium industries, tourism sector, infrastructure development in the economic and free zones.
The Cabinet also approved a draft decision on amending the organisation of some administrative units of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs.
It also approved a draft decision of the Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs to establish sections in the administrative units and the appointment of its competences.
Moreover, the Cabinet approved a draft agreement between the Government of Qatar and the Government of El Salvador on the formation of a Joint Ministerial Committee on Trade and Investment and another draft agreement on cooperation in the field of education, higher education and scientific research between the government of Qatar and the government of Georgia.
