The Qatar Indian Thowheed Centre (QITC), a forum of Tamil-speaking Muslim expatriates from India, organised a blood donation campaign at Qatar National Blood Donation Centre recently.
This was QITC’s 37th Mega Blood Donation Campaign. The organisation has been involved in diverse social activities among Tamil speakers in Qatar during the past 20 years.
More than 300 members of this charitable organisation attended the campaign and offered to donate blood, and 156 of them donated blood after having passed the initial checks in accordance with Qatar National Blood Donation Centre norms.
The successful campaign became a model for other volunteers and charitable and humanitarian service providers. The noble act of donating blood not only gives a new lease of life to many, but also heightens the sense of common social responsibility by serving the humanitarian and social needs of our local communities.
The drive received full and wholehearted support of the Qatar National Blood Donation Centre and all precautionary measures were taken.
The motivating factor for QITC behind this campaign, is a verse from the Holy Quran that says: ‘… Whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved the life of all mankind!’.
QITC thanks the Hamad Medical Corporation team and the management for their support.
