Symbolising the message of love, harmony and togetherness, kindergarten students of The Next Generation visited schools in Doha to celebrate the Universal Children's Day Week. Established by the United Nations in 1954, the day is marked to promote rights and welfare of the children.
TNG Ain Khalid and Wukair campus KG students were greeted by the Doha British School Ain Khalid and Al Wakrah branch, students of the TNG campus in Al Dayeen joined the Al Nebras International school kindergartners, while TNG campus students in Al Nuaija branch were welcomed by Newton International School and King's College Doha Kindergartners. The TNG children prepared greeting cards and put up a performance for the host schools. They also actively participated in the class activities arranged by the host schools.
"These collaborative events with other schools bring us closer to work hard in achieving one common goal and that is providing quality education to students in Qatar. We are thankful to the staff of DBS, NIS, KCD and Al Nebras school for joining us in the student-exchange programme. Their hospitality is much appreciated and we hope to work together in future projects", said TNG Principal Qudsia Asad Khan.
Newton International School Early Years Coordinator, Pam Lewis appreciated the efforts and highlighted the importance of the student exchange programme."Our children really enjoyed hosting visitors from the Next Generation School last week, and enjoyed the gifts and songs they had prepared for us. Although this is the first time such a collaboration has taken place, we hope that it can be repeated as it helps us all develop as 'an international community of learners', which is at the heart of the Newton International School vision," said Lewis.
The primary students also celebrated Children's Day under the theme of 'Dressup as a book character'. Students were dressed as their favourite characters from the assigned books. The Little Red Hen, King Midas, Hansel and Gretel, The Little Mermaid and Harry Potter were some of the selected books. Teachers encouraged students to speak on stage about the story they liked and why they chose to dress up as one of the characters therein.
