The Asian Coordinating Committee for basketball has officially approved the dates for the upcoming Gulf Championships, which will determine the finalists for the Asian Championships. The decision was arrived at during a meeting held in Dubai.

The meeting was chaired by Mohammed Al Mughaiseeb, Chairman of the Gulf Coordination Committee, and attended by Saadoun Al Kuwari, Secretary-General of the Gulf Coordinating Committee, Asia, along with other committee members.

The Gulf Under-18 Basketball Championship 3×3 will kick off the series of tournaments in March 2024, specifically on the 1st and 2nd of March. Following that, in May, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Gulf Academy Basketball Cup will take place, focusing on women’s basketball. The United Arab Emirates will be the host country for this event.

Furthermore, it was decided that Kuwait will host the Gulf Championship for the U18 youth category from July 29th to August 3rd.

Moving on, the Gulf Championship for the U-15 category will be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, from August 15th to 19th.

During the meeting, the date for the return of the Gulf Championship for the men’s 5×5 category was also determined. After a hiatus since 2019, Bahrain will host the first championships upon its return, scheduled for September 2nd to 7th, 2024.

Additionally, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been chosen to host the Gulf Club Championship for the men’s 3×3 category, which will take place from December 6th to 7th, 2024.

Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, Secretary-General of the Coordination Committee, expressed his immense satisfaction with the positive outcomes and unanimous agreement reached during the meeting. He emphasized that the upcoming phase will witness significant development in Gulf basketball.

Al Kuwari further elaborated in press statements that all committee members were present during the coordination meeting. He highlighted the establishment of a cooperative mechanism among the members to prioritize the public interest. He also commended the exceptional level of cooperation among the members, which ultimately benefits Gulf basketball as a whole.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Coordinating Committee affirmed that various matters were deliberated upon, aiming to enhance the progress of Gulf basketball.

Additionally, a specific date was finalized for the Gulf Championships, and comprehensive arrangements were made to determine the tournaments’ location and schedule for the year 2024.
