Community members eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine will be able to call to book an appointment or to do that online soon, according to a post on Qatar Media Corporation’s Twitter handle @covid19qatar.
“Vaccinations at health centres will only be given to people with pre-arranged appointments and all other community members who do not meet the criteria for the early phase of the campaign are kindly requested to wait until it is their turn,” the tweet said.
It said the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is working with the pharmaceutical companies to ensure the next shipment of vaccines arrives in Qatar as early as possible in 2021.
Everyone who needs to be vaccinated will be able to do so throughout the year.
In the first phase of Qatar's COVID-19 vaccination campaign vaccines are being prioritised for people most at risk of severe complications from the virus -- people aged 70 years and above, people with severe chronic conditions and Healthcare workers with repeated exposure to COVID-19.
“People who are eligible for the vaccine at this stage will be contacted directly by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) by SMS or phone call to arrange their appointment,” according to @covid19qatar.
