Passengers arriving in Qatar after 11:59 pm on Wednesday (April 28) on flights from six high-risk countries will have to book a new quarantine package designated for such travellers, Discover Qatar has announced.
The old quarantine bookings of such passengers will be cancelled, it added.
Discover Qatar, the destination management division of Qatar Airways and the sole quarantine booking facilitator in the country, has dedicated several dozens of exclusive packages in three-, four- and five-star hotels for travellers arriving after 11:59 pm on Wednesday from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. The prices range from around 3,500 to more than QR8,500 for 10 nights, depending on the booking day and the star-rating of the facility.
“If you have already made your hotel reservation in a different hotel, and are arriving after 29 April 00:00 local time Doha, Discover Qatar will contact you before departure to confirm that your original booking is cancelled,” it said on its website.
“You will need to re-book a hotel following the instructions provided in the e-mail. You will be required to pay for your new booking in full. Your original booking will be refunded within 15 working days.”
Qatar’s Minister of Public Health on Monday announced a set of entry regulations for travellers arriving after Wednesday midnight on flights originating from or transiting via the six countries, following the detection of new mutant variants of coronavirus in India.
According to the new regulations, such passengers will have to undergo hotel quarantine upon arrival in Qatar. The quarantine period will be 10 days in hotels or 14 days in Meknes hostels — instead of the seven-day period for fliers from other red list countries. No exception will apply to travellers from these six countries even if they are fully vaccinated, the ministry added.
Passengers coming to Qatar from the six countries before 11:59 pm on April 28 will be notified of any change in their booking on arrival in Doha. They will not be required to pay any additional costs between their original hotel booked and the new hotel, should their hotel change.
They will also be eligible to claim for a refund if their original quarantine booking was more expensive than the options available.
Passengers on flights not coming from the six countries should not book a hotel designated for quarantining travellers from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka.
“You will not be permitted to check in and you will not be entitled to a refund. If you are not flying from or transiting via Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and Sri Lanka, you should book your mandated quarantine hotel using the booking calendar [on Discover Qatar].”
