The Filipino community in Qatar has extended its appreciation and gratitude to the Qatar government for the food kits distributed to Filipino residents in the country in line with the ‘Let’s Celebrate Eid with Communities’ initiative.
Through the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (ADLSA) and Qatar Charity, thousands of food kits have been handed over to members of the Filipino community as the country marks Eid Al-Fitr.
According to Filipino community leader Engr. Henry Dimaano, around 4,200 food kits were delivered to HERO Qatar Headquarters while about 800 food kits were coordinated through the Filipino Muslim community.
“We are grateful to the government of Qatar for exemplifying the spirt of sharing and caring as we celebrate Eid Al-Fitr. Thousands of Filipino expats who needs cheering up the most especially during this difficult and challenging times will benefit from this initiative. Around 6,200 nationals registered to the Eid Food Kit Registration, which we have circulated on social media a couple of days ago. Upon receiving the food kits from the government, we immediately mobilised a number of Filipino community leaders including members of Filipino-Muslim groups, to help out
in the timely distribution of the food kits,” Dimaano told Qatar Tribune.
He added, “We have also received assistance from private entities and community groups such as Dr. Limousine for our transportation requirements, Qatar Care and Bolanon Association Qatar for PPE and masks for our volunteers and food for our volunteers from MEZZA Filipino Restaurant. This difficult situation has brought the community together once again and through leadership of the Qatar we are able to extend assistance and happiness to our kababayans.”
On the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, Filipino Muslim community leaders also extended their warm greetings to Muslims in Qatar and across the globe who will be observing the religious festival differently than how they used to as the fight against COVID-19 continuous.
“No words can express our extreme gratitude to the Qatar government for the initiative to provide food kits to our Filipino community most especially to our fellow Filipino Muslim brothers and sisters. May
Allah bless you for the generosity bestowed during the holy month of Ramadan. Despite the health crisis we are presently situated in, there is no stopping from sharing blessings and goodness. Thus, we are also thankful to the volunteers who assisted to ensure proper distribution of the goodies during this campaign. This year’s Eid occasion has been slightly different from the past that we’ve had in this country. Nonetheless, we still deserve a celebration in compliance with the government rules on social distancing. Let us greet Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim brothers and sisters, and may Allah accept all your good deeds,” said Jafar Abdulhamid, Vice President of Philippine Muslim Federation in Qatar.
While Filipino Community Adviser Noroden Abdulhamid said, “Eid Mubarak, and wishing you All a Happy Eid, filled with joy and prosperity. May Allah fulfil all your dreams on this special day. On behalf of the Filipino Community, especially the Filipino Muslim Community in Qatar, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the government of Qatar through the MoI and ADLSA for their generosity and continuous assistance to our community. We truly appreciate the thousands of food kits delivered to for our kababayans yesterday and today. Love live to the leadership of Qatar, to this great nation, to the Filipino workforce in the country and to the Philippine Embassy.”
