For a large number of children, it turned out to be an occasion to discover new skills and promote Islamic values as they participated in an online Quran recitation competition during the Holy month of Ramadan.
The event was organised by YouTube channel #Meetwithrana in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The channel is hosted by Qatar-based prominent influencer and literary figure Anwar Ali Rana.
The competition aimed to spread the spirit of competition among children and promote Quranic values during Ramadan.
The participants were divided into two categories based on their age groups. Tahir Jamil, Muhammad Ali Ather, Qari Mujtaba and Muhammad Idrees convened the competition and also acted as judges. They observed and judged the children mainly on three criteria -- pronunciation accuracy, ease and expertise in delivery, and melodiousness.
The contestants made the job of judges really tough as all of them recited the Quranic verses beautifully.
Ramla Manahil came first in category A while Muhammad Mohsin Malik, Muhammad Yousuf Waseem and Muhammad Ayaan got the second, third and fourth positions, respectively.
In the category B, Huzaifa Amjad was declared first. Hadia Batool, Danial Tabassum and Abdullah Abaan came second, third and fourth, respectively.
#Meetwithrana YouTube channel has been a big success story since its launch.
Amidst the coronavirus outbreak, which has infected people across the world and has led to lockdown of various cities, causing families to self-isolate in their homes, everyone is trying to do their bit to fight the virus.
Meetwithrana YouTube channel is one such example. It is especially popular among children. As children stay indoors, this platform, under the ‘Bazm-e-Adab’ banner, is providing them a chance to express themselves with confidence in a variety of programmes offered online. Bazm-e-Adab is offering opportunity to children to interact online and express themselves in a ways they like. Children are seen reciting Quranic verses, Hamd and Naat. Some children revealed their love for art while others expressed their social awareness messages on COVID-19.
Children engage themselves in chatting online on different topics and speaking with passion and confidence. Making the best use of technology, Rana is exploring different aspects and potential of children to groom them into responsible and well-behaved citizens.
#Meetwithrana is engaging adults as well through a variety of online programmes. One remarkable online session was with renowned scholar Muhammad Tariq on the topic of zakat followed by question-answer session during Ramadan. The channel periodically invites professionals so they can interact with youth and share with them their success stories.
Rana deserves all praise for his efforts to promote his channel which is equally popular among children and adults. The channel is doing an amazing job by promoting good values in the times of desperation.
“My passion is to nurture fireflies and spread light,” said Rana. Not only children but also adults too are benefiting and furthering their knowledge. Community members have praised Rana for his valuable social work.
