Kabul: Two members of the Haqqani network who wanted to assassinate a journalist in Afghanistan’s eastern Khost province are under arrest, according to a Sunday statement by the country’s spy agency. The assassins were on a mission to target a reporter at a local broadcaster in the provincial capital, according to the statement. The Haqqani network is believed to have close ties to the Taliban. Some experts even consider the network to be the militants’ military wing. (dpa)
