QNA Doha His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and African Union Chairperson Felix Tshisekedi held a session of official talks at the Amiri Diwan on Monday. The talks dealt with bilateral relations and the ways to enhance them, especially in the fields of investment, economy, maritime and air transport and infrastructure. HH the Amir and Tshisekedi discussed ways to enhance and develop cooperation between Qatar and the African Union. During the session, views were exchanged on a number of regional and international issues of common concern. After the talks, HH the Amir and the Congo president witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the governments of the two countries, such as the signing of an agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments, a general agreement for economic and commercial cooperation, an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of financial evasion, an agreement in the field of maritime transport, in addition to an agreement on air services. The two sides also signed an MoU for the development and modernisation of maritime infrastructure, an MoU between the governments of Qatar and the government of Congo, an MoU in the field of civil aviation and meteorology, and an MoU between Qatar Airways and Congo.
