Qatar has been witnessing a major construction boom in order to complete development projects aimed at achieving the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as in preparation for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari said on Monday.
Kuwari, who inaugurated the three-day BYH 2021 exhibition, said that the exhibition is an ideal platform for forming successful partnerships between exhibition visitors, consultants and contracting companies, as well as architecture and interior design institutions, in a way that enhances the investment environment in Qatar.
Stressing the importance of the BYH expo in developing Qatar’s construction sector, he said, “The BYH expo provides an opportunity to learn about the most prominent technological developments and the best international practices in the field of environmentally friendly engineering, construction, and interior and exterior designs.”
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is participating in this year’s edition by organising a workshop titled ‘House Building Advice for Consumers’ aimed at providing guidance in this field.
Organised by NeXTfairs, the exhibition acts as an awareness campaign that will be useful to explain the challenges that individuals face during the stages of building their houses and how to avoid them.
Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, who took part in the inaugural event, said the Build Your House exhibition presents a unique variety of advanced technologies in the fields of architecture, interior design, construction and building materials.
He said that the participation of over 150 local companies that are keen to showcase their expertise and services will play a vital role in helping citizens build their houses.
In a statement on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of BYH 2021, Sheikh Khalifa emphasised that Qatar Chamber’s support for the exhibition as an official sponsor stemmed out from its interest to support the exhibitions industry in the country and the Qatari private sector in general.
BYH exhibition is one of the most important exhibitions that are not only concerned with displaying the products used in construction processes but also reviews the construction stages, starting from issuing licences, choosing consultants, designing, security and safety standards that must be considered when building houses, up until selecting of building materials, construction contracting companies and smart solutions for building houses.
QC Chairman also said that the construction sector in Qatar is seeing continuous growth, supported by the economic expansion in the country and the acceleration of projects related to the FIFA World Cup 2022. The growth in the construction sector indicates that the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the sector have entirely disappeared, he said adding that the sector will witness further growth in the coming years.
Talking to Qatar Tribune on the sidelines of the exhibition, NeXTFairs Vice-Chairman Abdulaziz Saad Khalaf Hattab Al Kaabi said, “Bigger exhibition area and more number of participants during the second edition of the Build Your House exhibition is a reflection to the first edition’s success. All the slots are fully occupied and there is also international participation from Turkey and Italy. All these factors show the importance of BYH exhibition in the Qatari market.”
The second edition of the Build Your House 2021 exhibition is being participated by about 150 companies working in a range of sectors specialised in the design, renovation, and construction of homes in Qatar including contracting, architecture, and interior design.
The exhibition, which is expected to attract more than 5,000 visitors, targets Qatari citizens by displaying the latest technology and sustainable materials used in the fields of construction, architecture and interior design.
Build Your House is a new format exhibition dedicated to catering to the construction, fit-out and renovation needs of Qatari nationals who are the major individual builders in Qatar.
During the course of the event, Build Your House will engage Qataris on many important topics related to the construction of their homes. These include information on building the house, how to choose the appropriate design, and criteria for selecting the consultant and contractor, and all the details of the implementation stages.
The second edition of Build Your House, which is according to the organiser is expected to see deals worth over QR400 million, follows the immense success of the inaugural edition, the first of its kind exhibition in Qatar that served as a conduit between various segments of the house building industry with Qatari nationals.
A number of exhibitors said that BYH is the right platform to meet with serious customers.
“We have already seen many people visiting our booth on the first day itself. Most of them are serious customers. We expect to see as many as 500 serious customers during the exhibition,” an exhibitor said.
