The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) celebrated the Indian Republic Day with blue-collar workers in Qatar at the ICC Ashoka Hall recently. The event was held exclusively for blue-collar workers working with various companies in Qatar.
The event was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE Dr Deepak Mittal in the presence of prominent members of the community. Community members participated in a slew of cultural events while the invitees performed different art forms showcasing the rich culture of India.
The Indian ambassador elaborated on how the embassy is committed to the welfare of Indian expats in Qatar. He pointed out how Indians are being appreciated and trusted by the government of Qatar which is the outcome of their honesty and hard work wherever they are serving. He also extended his support for the ICBF’s life insurance scheme and his generous contribution was a motivation for community members to make the initiative a success.
On the occasion, ICC Students Forum led musical events while other Indian expat groups including Bihar and Jharkhand Association, and Telangana Gulf Samithi Karnataka Cultural Forum took part in different cultural programs. Rajasthan and Punjab community members recited patriotic songs along with a skit by The Techno Steel team showing the importance of maintaining communal harmony.
The event was led by ICC President PN Babu Rajan along with other members of the community including First Secretary and Coordinating office for ICC Xavier Dhanraj, ICC Advisory Chair KS Prasad, ICC Vice President Subramanya Hebbagelu and General Secretary Krishna Kumar. The event was held with all COVID-19 protocols.
